Privacy Policy

UserTell ("we", "us", or "our") provides a Shopify application that helps merchants collect, moderate, and display customer photos and videos on their storefront. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you install the app or when shoppers interact with a merchant's gallery, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Merchant account data. When you install UserTell from the Shopify App Store, we receive your store domain, primary email, and the access scopes you authorize. We use this to provision your account and operate the app.
- Order and customer metadata. To attribute gallery views to orders and to send post-purchase reminder emails, we process order IDs, line items, customer email, and order timestamps from your Shopify store.
- User-generated content. Photos, videos, captions, ratings, and comments that shoppers submit to a merchant's gallery are stored on our servers and displayed publicly on the merchant's storefront after moderation.
- Usage data. Standard server logs (IP address, user-agent, page URL) used to operate the service and prevent abuse.
How we use information
- To deliver, maintain, and improve UserTell.
- To send post-purchase reminder emails on the merchant's behalf asking buyers to share their experience.
- To produce aggregate analytics for merchants (e.g. which orders originated from shoppers who browsed a gallery).
- To respond to support requests and enforce our terms.
Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share information with our subprocessors (hosting, email delivery, error monitoring) strictly to operate the service, and with Shopify as required to integrate with your store. We may disclose information when required by law.
Photo and video consent
UGC submitted to a gallery is shown publicly on the merchant's storefront. Shoppers must affirmatively consent to public display before a submission is published, and they can request removal at any time by contacting the merchant or us.
Your choices
- Merchants can uninstall UserTell from their Shopify admin at any time; we delete merchant data within 30 days as required by Shopify's data-deletion webhook.
- Shoppers can request access, correction, or deletion of their personal data by emailing privacy@usertell.com.
